We're RAINED In!

That's right. You are reading correctly. We are rained in today.

Early this morning, freezing rain started falling from the sky. Because the ground was so cold from the last couple of days, and the extremely low atmospheric temperature, schools are closed. Yes, my friends, we are having a "rain" day here.

So, both kids are home. Edison's school was on a 2-hour delay. However, when Mark set out to take him to school, traffic on the main road was blocked in both directions--due to multiple accidents. And, when I called the school to let them know that he'd be even later. . . I was informed that they'd closed for the day. Sigh.

Mark is currently at home, but I expect he will make his way into the office in an hour or so. Because he was out all day yesterday, there's stuff piling up that he needs to take care of.

I am working from home today. I have about 12 thank you cards to write, and I can do a lot of service planning from here -- as well as make CDs for choir and band members.

So, all is not lost. We are warm. We are dry. We are safe.

We are home.

Ain't E. TN weather grand??? Over here on campus, Jeff said he fell twice this morning getting to and from chapel, so he's feeling mighty great! One of the homeschool moms I talked to said that there were 200+ accidents in Knox Co. alone before 10am! It's crazy!!! I'm staying here! heehee!

Our school was closed for "inservice" so I was headed out to take the kids to Taekwondo. We made it less than 2 miles. I slid all over the road and said many, many prayers this morning.

Jason didn't make it into work either, which is extraordinarily unusual. He tried. He sat for 30 minutes at James White Parkway. Observed five accidents while he sat there. Finally, just gave up and came home.

Some people have all the fun. We had about an inch of snow - not enough to make a real difference, aside from some slipperiness on the driveway. Glad you all are okay. Hope you enjoyed wearing the bunny slippers.

Wowza...well if it makes you feel any better (well I doubt it will)...our temperature has been hovering down at minus forty degrees with the windchill factor...for anyone who doesn't know at minus forty degrees is, it's where Celsius and Fahrenheit meet! And it's cooooooold!

And yesterday morning, this little die-hard Canadian winter driver turned the corner near the babysitter's house and the Jeep wanted to keep turning...Slid right sideways on the road. Thanked God there was no traffic...carried on my merry way.

Here's hoping you stop raining the freezing kind...that stuff sucks no matter where it is!

Love Melly :)
